Five immersive creative studios
Studios represent the deepest, most advanced creative opportunities at Steve & Kate’s. Designed by learning scientists and tested by kids, studios offer a range of meaningful activities and cutting-edge technologies where campers can dig deep into their passions.
Film & Animation Studio – Kids are natural-born storytellers. This studio gives them the tools to bring their most imaginative stories to life through stop-motion animation and live-action film.
This immersive storytelling studio leverages iPads, iMovie, and custom-built animation stations. We also offer a wealth of tutorials to introduce the kids to more advanced filmmaking techniques that will help them hone their storytelling craft.
Sushi Making Studio –At some of our locations, we offer sushi making for campers to explore–hands on–an ancient edible art form.
In this studio, kids will make their own sushi creations, learning techniques for rolls (futomaki), hand rolls (temaki), and rice balls (onigiri). Campers pick their own sushi ingredients from a lineup of veggies, imitation crab, condiments, and a special weekly ingredient, and after rolling, pressing, or decorating their creation comes the best part–eating it!
Coding & Robotics Studio - Coding has been proven to dramatically improve children’s problem-solving and logic skills, not to mention equipping them with the knowledge they’ll need to thrive in a world where the pace of technology accelerates every day.
Our Coding Studio puts kids in charge of technology, using coding apps, games, and robotics to push the limits of their analytical, collaborative and creative muscles. This Winter, we’ll be testing both digital and analog robotics and working on our in-house Coding game and workshop to ensure that whether your child is a total noob or a hacker-in-training, they’ll love this studio. Check back in February for more details about the latest and greatest Studio activities.
Fashion Studio – What happens when you mix the world of fashion with a child’s creativity? Literally anything. That’s why we built a Fashion Studio, where campers can design and sew their own clothing and accessories.
Whether your child prefers hand-sewing, machine-sewing or crochet, they can tap into their imaginations to make bags, tank tops, dresses, shorts, hats, scarves, and so much more. And with our new tutorials for advanced techniques, Project Runway can’t be far off.
Music Studio – Music is the heartbeat of human life. Which is probably why it’s one of our first high-level brain functions as infants. At Steve & Kate’s, we believe music should be a lifelong enjoyable experience, which is why we’ve created a studio where kids can create, record and share their music and songs.
Rather than focusing just on lessons and skills, we empower kids to experiment and explore their musical imaginations. With cutting-edge technology, kids can sing karaoke, sample and mix electronic music, lay down beats on the drum machine, and spin records like a DJ.
And a world of endless choice
If you’re going to trust kids to make their own choices, you’d better give them plenty of choice. We offer a wide array of activities and experiences, and your kid will have the freedom to try to them all.
Sports – From camp classics to traditional sports offered with a Steve & Kate’s twist, campers will have endless opportunities to exercise body and mind. Each day, we’ll offer a featured "sport" for campers of all ages and abilities, and we’ll also schedule other active games throughout the day to spice things up.
Daily Features - Throughout each week, every camp will spice up their respective activity lineups with featured workshops like dance or improv; live shows like musicians or magicians; and large recreational showstoppers like rock climbing walls or bungee trampolines. We generally schedule the most jaw dropping feature on Fridays.
Recreational Features –Each day at camp we offer at least one showstopper activity from our lineup of Recreational Features*. One day it could be life-size bowling or electric smart karts designed in Silicon Valley; the next it might be an inflatable slip and slide or our custom sports arena. We bring the amusement park to camp all summer long.
*Please note: Each location will have three Recreational Features that stay on site all summer and are scheduled at the Director’s discretion. The options at each site are selected based on weather, space, school policy and state regulations. Some schools, for example, don’t allow inflatables, motorized karts or water activities so we have to adjust accordingly. Check your site’s location page or contact the Director starting in February to find out which Recreational Features will be of offered this summer.
Showcase – Between lunch and all-camp games, we gather all of the campers to celebrate various parts of camp life through our daily digital showcase. During the week, campers will view a variety of films including our original docu-series highlighting kids pursuing their passions, narrative mystery series, entertaining sketches, inspiring activity tutorials and so much more. Showcase is also a chance for campers to show off their own talents and projects they’ve made in studios for all of the camp to enjoy!
Rubber Chicken – Each summer at camp an itty bitty chicken named Chuckie Jr and his fine feathered family like to hide at camp. Each week there will be a new member of Chuckie's family hidden around campus and a clue each day of that week for where they might be hiding. Campers can hunt for the tiny chicken as they go about their normal day, until he is discovered and a great chicken prize is awarded.
Lounge – Campers have a self-serve supply of books, card games, board games, and strategy games, thousands of wooden blocks and arts & crafts supplies.
Launchpad – After 39 years, we can say that all of the children we’ve ever met like to choose their own activities. But sometimes our youngest campers need a little extra guidance and support before feeling confident experiencing all that camp has to offer. That’s why we’ve developed Launchpad––a way to start before joining the broader camp environment. We set up a structured program at camp where kids can feel comfortable as they connect with other campers their age who may also need help easing into camp. Our Launchpad staff then follows a schedule through camp that gives them a full view of what we offer. At any time during the day, campers may break from this group and do their own thing once they have discovered something of interest and friends to do it with.
Gameshow – Each day of camp is capped with Steve & Kate’s Gameshow—Antler’s Up. Campers play a bingo style game of chance based on camp icons for daily prizes.
Game Room – Every Steve & Kate’s location is equipped with a Game Room, chock-full of fast-paced, interactive games like Just Dance, Anki Overdrive, foosball, pool, giant board games, pop-a-shot and ping pong where kids can play just for the sake of play. Please note: Games vary by location based on space and size of Camp.
Carnival – On the last day at each camp location, we turn the fun up to 11. Replacing our usual camp activities is the Steve & Kate's Camp Carnival, where campers play to earn prizes and treats. This not-to-be-missed event is the big bang finish each summer.
Pie Throwing – Every Friday, all summer long, campers get the unique opportunity to plant a tasty whipped cream pie into a friend’s face. Hilarious and delicious.
All-Camp Games – Every day after lunch, the whole camp comes together for a high-energy, high-spirit collaborative game, ranging from camp classics to super-top-secret originals that you'll only find at Steve & Kate's.
