Workshops are spaces within BREAK™ designed for creative exploration.
Coding & Robotics Workshop – Coding & Robotics have been proven to dramatically improve children’s problem-solving and logic skills, not to mention equipping them with the knowledge they’ll need to thrive in a world where the pace of technology accelerates every day.
Kids interested in robotics can dive into Circuit Cubes projects which enable campers to build critters and cars with working circuits and gears using analog circuitry and legos. Kids can also build mobile apps and animations using Scratch Jr. or our own Coding Studio game and workshop.
Film & Animation Workshop – Kids are natural-born storytellers. This Workshop gives them the tools to bring their most imaginative stories to life through stop-motion animation and live-action film.
Kids make animation shorts on our custom stages, film news shows in our newsroom, and can come up with any storyline they’d like with the cameras and editing software. New at BREAK ™, we’ll be featuring a drawing app that converts flip books into movies.
Textile Workshop What happens when you mix the world of textiles with a child’s creativity? Literally anything. That’s why we built a Workshop, where kids can hand sew and use machines to create fashion projects from bags to clothing. And new at BREAK ™, we’ll be featuring other textile crafts like weaving, block printing, jewelry, and stuffies.
Music Workshop – Music is the heartbeat of human life. Which is probably why it’s one of our first high-level brain functions as infants. At Steve & Kate’s, we believe music should be a lifelong enjoyable experience, which is why we’ve created a Workshop where kids can create, record and share their music and songs.
Kids mix and record original DJ mashups and build original songs from the ground up using popular apps like Garageband, DJay2, and Keezy.
Make it Maker Workshop – Nothing screams Steve & Kate’s self directed learning philosophy quite like tinkering with raw materials to create new things.
New at BREAK™, we’ll be featuring a Maker Cart and daily Maker challenges using found and recyclable materials that campers will be able to take home.
And a world of endless choice
If you’re going to trust kids to make their own choices, you’d better give them plenty of choice. We offer a wide array of activities and experiences, and your kid will have the freedom to try to them all.
Sports – From camp classics to traditional sports offered with a Steve & Kate’s twist, campers will have endless opportunities to exercise body and mind.
Specials – To add to the wow factor, we bring in thrilling recreational activities like bounce houses, slides, or other activities.
Showcase – Between lunch and all-camp games, we gather all of the campers to celebrate various parts of camp life through our daily digital showcase. During the week, campers will view a variety of films including our original docu-series highlighting kids pursuing their passions, narrative mystery series, entertaining sketches, inspiring activity tutorials and so much more. Showcase is also a chance for campers to show off their own talents and projects they’ve made in studios for all of the camp to enjoy!
Lounge – Kids have a self-serve supply of books, card games, board games, and strategy games, thousands of wooden blocks and arts & crafts supplies.
Launchpad – After 38 years, we can say that all of the children we’ve ever met like to choose their own activities. But sometimes our youngest children need a little extra guidance and support before feeling confident experiencing all that we have to offer. That’s why we’ve developed Launchpad––a way to start before joining the broader environment. We set up a structured program where kids can feel comfortable as they connect with other kids their age who may also need help easing into the larger group. Our Launchpad staff then follows a schedule through BREAK™ that gives them a full view of what we offer. At any time during the day, kids may break from this group and do their own thing once they have discovered something of interest and friends to do it with.
Gameshow – Each day of camp is capped with Steve & Kate’s Gameshow—Antler’s Up. Campers play a bingo style game of chance based on camp icons for daily prizes.
All-Camp Games – Every day after lunch, the whole camp comes together for a high-energy, high-spirit collaborative game, ranging from camp classics to super-top-secret originals that you'll only find at Steve & Kate's.
Pie Throwing – Every Friday, kids get the unique opportunity to plant a tasty whipped cream pie into a friend’s face. Hilarious and delicious.
