STEVE & KATE'S PORTLAND - DATES: June 17 - August 30, 2019;  ADDRESS: All Saints School, 601 NE Cesar E Chavez Blvd, Portland

Portland Summer Camp

After spending over ten years working in youth work and community engagement, I found that everyone and every group of people needs space to grow into the incredible person or community that they can be. That's why when I came on as a Self-Director I was so excited to continue to facilitate a space where kids can set their own pace, test their own limits, and explore all the possibilities. Here in Portland we love watching their imaginations lead them to new discoveries and experiences and is our absolute favorite part of working with youth. It is what make's Steve & Kate's Camp so great. Within the heart of Laurelhurst, creating a safe place where every camper is seen and heard is what will always comes first, and we believe this makes room for us all to grow together. This year we're bringing in the best of the city, from performances to workshops to special surprises - making sure to give your camper a summer full of new adventures to choose from that they'll talk about long after it is over.

UNIQUE THINGS ABOUT THIS LOCATION

  • We ask that each camper bring a labeled, reusable water bottle daily. This will help us cut down on our use of non-recyclable plastic cups.
  • A huge blacktop ready for scootering and epic tag games.
  • Water Play is GUARANTEED to be available on hot days (85 degrees and higher). We recommend that families apply sunblock at home and send children with a bathing suit or change of clothes, and a towel.
  • Scooters (i.e. Razor scooters) are allowed at camp with helmets from home. Bicycles can be locked up on campus but cannot be used during the camp day, as well as roller blades, skateboards, etc. Please write your name on your scooter with permanent marker.
  • Please leave personal electronic devices or valuables (Pokemon Cards & Personal Legos included) at home (we don't want any to get lost or damaged!). If campers have any devices or personal items that they absolutely must have or want to use for camp projects, please leave it in HQ so we can keep it safe and campers can come in to HQ for when they would like to use it.

REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE LINK BELOW FOR THE VIRTUAL ORIENTATION. This provides information relevant to all of our camp locations, including information and videos about how to check-in/check-out, what to bring (and not bring), and so much more.

Activities for every interest.

Whatever your child’s passion, they can push their limits at our camp.
Stop-motion animation, fashion, coding, breadmaking, sports, music, dance, and so much more.

RECREATIONAL FEATURES

Each day at camp, we offer at least one showstopper activity from our lineup of Recreational Features (formerly known as Specials). The Director at each location will decide when and how often to schedule each of their Recreational Features. When available, the scheduled Recreational Feature will be listed in the Daily Features schedule below.

  • SMART_KARTS_SPECIALS_SUMMER

Smart Karts – Get behind the wheel of one of Silicon Valley's latest and greatest inventions: the first electric smart-kart for kids. Helmets are required and will be provided if needed, but we highly encourage you to bring your own.

  • GAGA_SPECIALS_SUMMER

Gaga - The name of the game and also how campers feel about it: Gaga! This fan fave is essentially a high energy dodgeball-style game played in an octagonal pit. There may be 8 sides to this arena, but one opinion...gaga!

  • ZORBS_SPECIALS_SUMMER

Zorb Races – Climb inside of one of our giant 10' inflatable hamster balls, propel yourself down an inflatable race track and see if you can beat your friend!

DAILY FEATURES

Throughout each week, we'll spice things up with featured workshops such as dance or improv; live shows like musicians or magicians; and large recreational equipment such as a Zorb Ball Racing and Electronic Go Carts. We generally schedule the most jaw-dropping Feature on Friday! Check back often for updates!

TESTIMONIALS

THANK YOU for another outstanding summer! You and your staff are wonderful. You're thoughtful, responsive, and truly are passionate about what you do and clearly it shows! Already looking forward to next year!

Heidi

(S&K parent)

Our son is going on his 4th summer with Steve & Kate’s and as a working family, we love the flexibility of drop off, pick up and the catered lunch. Our son loves the freedom he has to pick what he wants to do during the day and he has surprised us with his choices over the years – he’s learned to make Lego movies, played sports and foosball, and spent one summer dancing in dance studio. What we like most about Steve and Kate’s in particular and the reason we keep coming back every year is that this camp allows our son to have the type of summer we want for him – playing with his summer friends (who also come back every year), making the choices over what they want to do in a safe, loving and fun environment.

I tell anyone who asks about the camp (and even people who don't) how great it is. I had a hard time finding someplace that was flexible, worked with my schedule and that my child would like and this was it.
