Using Bright Horizons Back-Up Care™ at Steve & Kate's Camp

Did you know that employer-sponsored back-up care can be used at Steve & Kate’s Camp this summer? Bright Horizons partners with choice employers to offer subsidized back-up care for summer camp at Steve & Kate’s.

Since 1980 Steve & Kate’s has put kids in charge of their own learning experience. Campers choose from a variety of activities in real-time, including sewing, stop-motion animation, coding & gaming, makers crafts, baking, sports & recreation, and more. They’ll choose what activities they want to participate in and for how long–designing their day as they go.

You can reserve any number of the back-up care days you have in your Bright Horizons account.

How It Works

Reserve back-up care through your normal Bright Horizons booking channels, and request your local Steve & Kate’s Camp as the provider. Not sure if your company has Bright-Horizons Back-Up Care benefits? Search for your employer, here.

Once reserved with Bright Horizons, S&K will send a confirmation email to activate their Steve & Kate’s Camp account.

Then, you’re ready for camp!

Lunch, snacks, and all activities are provided, so you just need to show up on your dates of care.

Activities For Every Interest

In the early morning and late afternoons at camp, children ramp up and wind down with recreational choices. For the bulk of the day, children will choose from the activities listed below. While we can’t say exactly what the day will look like, one thing is for sure: The campers are in control.

MEDIA LAB

Campers will use scaffolded coding apps to build & play games on iPads. They'll also have the ability to produce stop-motion shorts on our custom animation stations, create music, or remix their favorite song.

SEWING SALON

Use customized patterns and challenges—and a mix of hand and machine sewing—to manufacture bags, clothing and other fashionable, funky creations. This year campers can even use stencils to design their own fabric.

TINKER LAB

Release your inner innovator with crafts, inventor kits, 3D pens, and giant foam blocks. Construct take-home projects or collaborate on large-scale builds such as forts or thrones. Our hand-selected STEAM-based materials fuel your curiosity and inspire exploration.

THE STAGE

Move and groove with motion-based games like Just Dance, or film your own music videos with friends. New this year campers can also make puppets for our custom theater. Want to burst out in song and dance, or act out a gripping dramatic scene? This is your big moment.

Bake up a storm in our wildly popular test kitchen. Choose fillings, spices, and add-ons, explore new flavors, and customize confections to satisfy your discerning palate.

SPORTS & REC

Run, jump, throw, kick, play. Each site is equipped with go-karts and additional athletic gear optimized for the available fields and play spaces. Team up with peers and staffers to play sports, design games, concoct obstacle courses and more.

WEEKLY SPECIALS

Every day, experience a special, show- stopping activity. A giant inflatable, a musical performance or guest speaker, a movement class, obstacle course—anything’s possible. We’ll announce our official 2024 specials lineup this spring.

On a sweltering summer afternoon, nothing keeps you cooler than games and activities like water tag, inflatable slip n’ slides and giant sprinklers. Wherever space, weather, and local water restrictions allow ‘em, we provide ‘em.

What is Steve & Kate's Camp?

Steve & Kate’s is a summer day camp that operates in more than 70 locations across the U.S. We also have winter & spring break camps in select cities.

Since 1980, we’ve put kids in charge of their own learning experience. They try, fail, and learn on their own. They learn to trust their own judgment, and tackle the challenges of an ever changing world with creativity and confidence.

What if I need more care?

You can now apply the full value of your Bright Horizons Back-Up Care days toward the cost of a Summer Pass.

Our Summer Pass includes lunch, snacks, and all hours (8am–6pm) for any day we’re open this summer–at any camp location.

To use this option, just reserve as many back-up care days as you’d like for Steve & Kate’s Camp. Then, login to your S&K account and purchase any supplemental Day Passes needed to reach a Summer Pass. Similarly, you can purchase your supplemental days with S&K now, and then reserve your Bright Horizons Back-Up Care days later.

Either way, once you have a total of 30* Day Passes for a given child in your S&K account, whether they’re Bright Horizon days or purchased through us, you’ll automatically be upgraded to a Summer Pass!

*Some camp locations require less than 30 days for a Summer Pass due to the shortened length of summer. Please see our summer fees page for specifics at your local camp.

When can I use my benefits for camp?

You can use your back-up care benefits for any camp day we’re open!

Starting Feb. 8, 2024, select clients will be able to reserve their camp days for the entire summer, rather than waiting until the normal booking window opens. For any questions regarding when your employer allows you to reserve your camp days, please reach out to Bright Horizons Back-Up Care support at, 877-242-2737.

Reserve your days through Bright Horizons’ instant book platform. Just log into My Bright Horizons & select your local S&K location as your requested care provider.

What if I don't have enough back-up care days to cover all the dates I need?

No worries! Families can supplement their back-up care days by purchasing Passes directly through us at any time. Just log into your account and navigate to the ‘Plans’ tab to purchase your Day Passes.

You can also apply the full value of your Bright Horizons Back-Up Care days toward the cost of a Summer Pass, which is good for any day we’re open that camp season.
